The cats used to have a tough time getting to eat their food on the farm. The dogs, who will eat anything, always got there first. So the farmer built the cats a feeder on a post-with a twist. He built a couple of birdhouses on top of the feeder, hoping that a bird family may nest there, and the cats would have somebody to play with. For the last few years, two pairs of starlings have raised their families there - without incident. The cats have taken to them as if they were their own, and seem to enjoy baby sitting their noisy neighbors' children.
